This is a juicy, ripe, concentrated and fruit driven Beaujolais showcasing the true potential of what this region can produce, using great vines and in the hands of a great wine maker! Alex Foillard's Brouilly is a perfect example of how to get the terroir of Brouilly perfectly bottled in this low intervention style Beaujolais.
This Gamay showcases vibrant aromas of raspberry and strawberry, complemented by hints of pepper and terroir-driven spice. The palate is fresh and balanced, featuring juicy red fruits and fine-grained tannins, leading to a fruity finish.
Alex Foillard, son of Jean Foillard—a “Gang of Four” natural wine pioneer—is one of Beaujolais’ most exciting young winemakers. Drawing from his father’s legacy, Alex embraces sustainable farming and minimal intervention winemaking to craft vibrant, terroir-driven wines. Working with old vines in Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly, he uses whole-cluster fermentation, native yeasts, and minimal sulfur to create pure, expressive wines that highlight the granite-rich soils of the region. Balancing tradition with a fresh perspective, Alex has quickly established himself as a rising star, delivering Gamay wines celebrated for their finesse, balance, and ability to capture the spirit of Beaujolais.
Crafted from 50-year-old vines grown on granite soils , Alex uses tried-and-true techniques: whole-cluster fermentation with natural yeasts, no fining or filtration, and no additives of any kind, save for a minimal sulfur dose at bottling to preserve the grape’s purity.
Enjoy now for its youthful freshness, or cellar for up to 5 years to develop complexity. Serve slightly chilled at 13-15°C. Perfect for casual gatherings or pairing with light meals.
